TRACK CLEANING

Track Cleaning

Window track cleaning is an often overlooked service by the residential customer. Window tracks can become filled with dirt, dead insects, cobwebs, pine needles, and dust. This can be a pain to clean and extremely frustrating when not using the right tools. And when selling a house, or at a new construction house the tracks are just important as the windows to clean.

Usually, a quick wipe down with a wet microfiber cloth will suffice but for those extremely dirty tracks, a more intensive cleaning is required.

Our deluxe track cleaning method includes

* dry/wet vac * cleaning solution * track brush *putty knife * micro-fiber towel *spray bottle

Step 1: Remove Sliding Window – Removal of sliding window allows for the whole track to be cleaned without the window dragging trace amounts of dirt on track if not removed.

Step 2: Apply Solution – I use a blend of water, dawn, and a very small amount of tsp which I apply using a spray bottle.

Step 3: Agitate Dirt – Next I loosen and agitate dirt with a small, stiff-bristled, track cleaning brush. For the dirt which is stuck in the very thin parts of the track, I use the putty knife to loosen.

Step 4: Vacuum Solution/Debris – Using a dry/wet vac I suck up the solution/dirt and any cobwebs that might be a surrounding window. This should remove most everything.

Step 5: Wipe Up Trace Residue With Microfiber Cloth – Any dirt and/or liquid left over should be wiped up using a split microfiber cloth. Dirt is negatively charged while a split microfiber towel is positively charged, making the towel a magnet for dust.

Step 6: Place Sliding Window Back Into Track – Wipe down the base of the window making sure there is no dirt on the bottom and place back in track. All finished!

I hope this was informative on our practices for cleaning dirty tracks. If you have any questions feel free to call or email.
